Patrick Mahomes had the perfect response to the trolls who body-shamed him after an image of him showing up to camp quickly went viral.

The 28-year-old Patrick Mahomes is coming off another historic season that saw the Chiefs win back-to-back Super Bowls. They defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime of the big game to secure dynastic status, as well as the first NFL repeat in 19 years.

Even though Mahomes is among the world’s greatest athletes (and therefore in peak physical condition), some folks on social media thought he showed up to camp looking overweight:

During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, Patrick Mahomes admitted that he was “surprised” by the body-shaming comments from the trolls, noting that he believed it was something in the past.

“It kind of surprised me. I kind of thought we had the whole dad bod thing out of the way last season…in the play-offs. But I guess people still haven’t realized that I don’t have abs… Hopefully, one of these days, we can figure out how to get a looser T-shirt. The backpack’s just holding my shirt in.”

It’s unfortunate that we’re still living in times where people still think it’s okay to shame others based on their physical appearances. But Mahomes kept it classy and deserves credit for not sinking to the level of the body-shamers.

Last season, Patrick Mahomes completed 67.2 percent of his pass attempts for 4,183 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In the postseason, he had a 69.8 completion percentage for 1,051 yards, six touchdowns and one interception.

Patrick Mahomes & Chiefs Aim For First NFL Three-Peat

With the Chiefs cementing themselves as a dynasty, the next order of business now is to make history by completing the first three-peat in NFL history.

The 1990 San Francisco 49ers and 1994 Dallas Cowboys were close-ish to a three-peat, both losing in the NFC Championship Game after winning back-to-back Super Bowls. If there’s one team that can finally complete the first NFL three-peat, it’s the team with the best quarterback and coach in football.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will begin their quest for a three-peat when they welcome reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium in the NFL Kickoff Game on Sept. 5.
