Phoenix Mercury player Brittney Griner ran into a surprise encounter at her Phoenix home recently.
Living in the Phoenix area, you have to deal with so much more than just the blazing sun. There is also a ton of snakes that can end up anywhere.
Phoenix Mercury and WNBA All-Star player Brittney Griner posted a photo on her Instagram story to showcase a snake that slithered over her steps with the caption “Good morning Arizona. Now I wonder did I step over him 1 or 2 today. Now it’s time to remove him.”
Brittney Griner, like the true champion that she is, wasn’t the least bit rattled. Determined to catch the snake, Griner used various tools to contain it, as shown in an Instagram story she posted with the caption “We can do it the nice way or the hard way. You pick sir.”
Her final story shows the tub with the lid closed, presumably with the snake inside.
“BG Snake Removal in service! taking clients in the valley. lol,” Griner wrote on her Instagram story.
Although Brittney Griner was able to corral this snake, it should be noted that this practice is not recommended.
When confronted by a rattlesnake, homeowners should maintain composure and put their own safety first. It’s best to carefully back away from the snake and maintain a distance of at least six feet. Being generally non-aggressive unless startled, avoid startling these creatures by running, making loud noises, or making rapid movements.
In self-defense, a rattlesnake always sends a warning before striking as it emits a rattling sound from its tail or coiling up with its head raised.
Brittney Griner Made Her Much-Anticipated Return To The WNBA After Russian Prison Stint
Brittney Griner, the two-time Olympic gold medalist, was arrested in Russia in February 2022 on drug charges. She was detained in a Russian prison for 10 months from February to December 2022. She was found guilty of carrying vape cartridges containing cannabis oil.
Griner rejoined the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury upon her release from Russia. She averaged 17.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in 31 games, via ESPN.com. The Mercury missed the postseason for the first time since 2012.
