The San Antonio Spurs will play their second to last road game of the season tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies. While both the Spurs and the Grizzlies have been far from playoff contention for a long time now, both teams have actually played well recently.

The Spurs, with a record of 19-59, are 4-3 in their last seven games. All three of their losses were close games. San Antonio lost to the Golden State Warriors by four points, the Denver Nuggets by five points and two nights ago to the Philadelphia 76ers in double overtime. In that Sixers loss, Victor Wembanyama led the way with 33 points and 18 rebounds (see the Grades).

At 27-51, the Grizzlies had a three-game winning streak snapped in their last game, which was also against the Sixers. Scotty Pippen Jr. led the way for Memphis with 24 points and five assists.

This is the fourth and final matchup between these two teams. The Grizzlies are 3-0 against the Spurs so far this season. Memphis will look to sweep the season series tonight on their home floor.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

Along with Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and Charles Bassey being out for the season, the Spurs will also be without Keldon Johnson, Cedi Osman and Dominick Barlow. Johnson and Osman are missing the game due to ankle injuries, while Barlow is out with a knee injury.

San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup

Against the Sixers, the Spurs put Keldon Johnson in the starting lineup in his return from injury. Unfortunately, since he’s injured once again, head coach Gregg Popovich will need to change things up. Expect Popovich to go with Victor Wembanyama at center, Sandro Mamukelashvili at power forward, Julian Champagnie at small forward, Malaki Branham at shooting guard and Tre Jones at point guard.

Off the bench, the three players we are very likely to see in Silver and Black are Blake Wesley, Devonte’ Graham and Zach Collins.

Betting Guide: Spurs at Grizzlies

In a little bit of a surprise, the Spurs are the favorites tonight over the Grizzlies even though San Antonio is on the road. The Spurs are favored by 4.5 points and the over/under is 217 points. The smart money is on the under. The last time these two teams met, they didn’t even combine for 200 points. With the Spurs and Grizzlies playing hard yet dealing with a lot of injuries, expect a low scoring affair.
