The Kansas City Chiefs have freed up substantial cap space by trading cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans, and they’re now likely to go out and make their Super Bowl-winning roster even better.

While the Chiefs already have one of the most formidable teams in the NFL, they now have an extra $19.5 million in cap space to play with, leaving them with enviable flexibility heading into 2024.

General manager Brett Veach is hardly one to waste time and should already be searching for a free agent who could come in and make an immediate impact.

NFL reporter Matt Lombardo has linked the team to three top free agents who could be potential signings in 2024, naming cornerback Xavien Howard, safety Justin Simmons, and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as players who could end up in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform this year.

Howard was released by the Miami Dolphins before the start of the new league year. While he’s undoubtedly one of the best CBs in the league, he ended up being a cap casualty which now makes him a viable option for a team keen on a three-peat.

The player also seems ready to chase a ring with a contending team.

The Kansas City Chiefs Could Benefit From Signing Either Of The Aforementioned Free Agents

Xavien Howard remains the premier cornerback available and seems to be set on chasing a Super Bowl ring.

I think whichever team is smart enough to sign Xavien Howard and put him on an island will end up being a playoff team or Super Bowl contender,” Lombardo claims to have been told by a league source.

Simmons could also be an impactful signing for the Chiefs after doing it all as part of the Denver Broncos secondary last season, recording three interceptions and a sack.

As for Beckham, he could be a great addition to a receiving corps that was just supplemented by Marquise Brown.

While he’s no longer the same player after tearing his ACL in 2022, there’s still a lot of upside to signing a pass catcher of his ilk, especially when he will be playing with Patrick Mahomes.
