The forward, RJ Barrett of the Toronto Raptors, is going through a hard time as his younger brother has passed away. The team issued this statement about this unfortunate incident on behalf of the Barrett family.
Recently, RJ Barrett spoke about his brother Nathan’s passing to the media, where he talked about their brotherhood and how they used to be in touch every day. He also mentioned how difficult it is right now for him.
RJ Barrett’s heartfelt remarks over his late brother Nathan
Nathan Barrett, the younger brother of Toronto Raptors forward, RJ Barrett, passed away on March 12th. His entire family and his friends were by his side at the time of death. The news of his death was issued by the family and the Raptors franchise.
The statement read, “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved son and brother, Nathan Tyler Barrett, who passed away on Tuesday, March 12, surrounded by his family, church and friends. “While our family is devastated by this great loss, we will continue to cherish the memories and time spent together. Nathan was a God-fearing young man of strong character. He was thoughtful, kind, loving, compassionate, creative, admirable, and driven.”
Barrett was deeply hurt and emotional after he returned to the court during Friday’s practice and said, “You know he was my best friend, I still call them sometimes, but yeah, just a tough time but I’m thankful for just all the support from everybody. And you know, definitely the Raptors, being able to give me that time, and just welcoming me back.”
There was no revelation of the reason for Nathan’s passing after the statement was issued. But in a new report, it was mentioned that Nathan was sick for a few weeks. The Raptors were on a road trip when that happened, but Barrett managed to be by his brother’s side before he passed away.
The tragedy left RJ in despair, and he got all emotional after he talked to the reporters about it. The entire Raptors team attended the funeral and was always by Barrett’s side whenever he needed someone.
It’s hard to imagine how saddening it is for the Barrett family, and we send our prayers to them. RJ is back for the practices now, with the playoffs on the verge of happening.
