JJ McCarthy throwing bombs
Michigan Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy broke the internet today by putting on a jaw-dropping performance at his Pro Day on Friday.

Few recent quarterback prospects have been more polarizing than JJ McCarthy. On one hand, he went 27-1 as the Wolverines’ starting quarterback over two years and helped them to a national championship this past season.

But other scouts and analysts believe that McCarthy has a limited skill set who was carried by an elite defense and prolific rushing game. Despite the many skeptics, he’s widely expected to be a top 10-15 pick in next month’s NFL Draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has McCarthy as the No. 4 QB and No. 15 prospect on his big board.

Well, let’s just say that McCarthy only helped his draft stock with a phenomenal showing at Michigan’s Pro Day. Check out these videos of the national champion-winning QB throwing absolute dimes with the simple flick of his wrist:

JJ McCarthy’s spectacular showing at the Pro Day led to plenty of positive reactions from fans on social media:

In his final season at Michigan, JJ McCarthy completed 72.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,991 yards, 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Which Teams Could Target JJ McCarthy?

Barring any surprises, the top three picks will be Caleb Williams (a virtual lock to the Chicago Bears at No. 1 overall) Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. The Washington Commanders hold the No. 2 pick and will certainly take one of those two, with the New England Patriots likely taking the last one remaining.

Regarding McCarthy, New York Giants are a team to watch with the No. 6 selection. They can’t realistically move on from Daniel Jones’ hefty contract until next year, so they could draft a QB and have him sit for a year before taking on the reins in 2025.

The Minnesota Vikings (No. 11), Denver Broncos (No. 12), Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13) and Seattle Seahawks (No. 16). could also be in play for JJ McCarthy. Of course, it’s highly likely that any of those teams would have to move up for the consensus fourth-best QB in this class.
