Robert Griffin III really wants to see Caleb Williams spurn the Chicago Bears, but it appears he would be okay with the team drafting the player as long as a certain condition is met.

The Bears are likely set on taking the former USC quarterback at No. 1 overall as they have traded Justin Fields, sending him to the Pittsburgh Steelers. But RGIII reckons Williams should refuse to play in Chicago and “pull an Eli Manning.”

Griffin’s take is predicated on the way the team treated Fields, from his perspective at least, while he also doesn’t like the idea of the ex-Trojan walking into a situation where he will face unfair pressure to win right away.

He should tell the Bears he’s not coming,” he said on his ‘RG3 and The Ones’ podcast, doubling down. “Don’t draft me.

RGIII referred to Williams as the best QB in the draft and admitted that the Bears have made some efforts as they’ve signed Keenan Allen and D’Andre Swift, though he belies the situation is still a poor one and will remain that way unless Matt Eberflus is handed a long-term extension.

The way the former NFL QB sees it, that’s the only way Caleb Williams will develop the way he should in the pros.

The Bears haven’t developed their own star QB in a very long time and RGIII doesn’t want Williams to fall victim to the circumstances that have marred the careers of both Fields and Mitchell Trubisky.

“They’ve surrounded Caleb Williams with great talent, but what they don’t have right now is stability in the front office,” he explained. “To me, they need to extend Matt Eberflus, because he needs at least three-to-four years to build and grow with Caleb Williams.

“So if the Bears believe in Matt Eberflus, they should extend him. Because that’s the best thing for the entire organization. If they don’t believe in Matt Eberflus, they should have fired him as soon as they knew they were going to go with a rookie quarterback.”

Griffin suggested that Williams could be a better fit with his former team, the Washington Commanders, given that the player would have a fresh start under new management and coaching staff, while they also have Kliff Kingsbury working as an offensive coordinator.

Williams and Kingsbury developed a great working relationship while the latter was with USC last year.

Caleb Williams Has Been Warned By One of His Future Bears Teammates

While the draft is still a few weeks away, Caleb Williams has been issued a warning by one of his future Bears teammates.

Cornerback Jaylon Johnson just inked a deal to remain with the team and, speaking to Kay Adams on the ‘Up & Adams’ podcast this week, let the QB know his “Hollywood” personality will not be welcome in the locker room.

Johnson urged the youngster to humble himself while he also asked for patience from the fans as he admitted his own excitement at the prospect of having a player such as Williams join the Bears.
