“What a pathetic joke!” – Cowboys boss Jerry Jones gets brutally slammed for not firing Mike McCarthy despite playoff humiliation

Jones claimed the playoff defeat to the Packers is not only McCarthy but to everyone associated with the franchise.

On Wednesday, Jerry Jones announced that Mike McCarthy will remain the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for the 2024 season. The Cowboys owner remains optimistic that McCarthy still has a lot to offer the franchise.

There is great benefit to continuing the team’s progress under Mike’s leadership as our head coach.

Jones said yesterday

Despite the overwhelming outcry to see the back of McCarthy after crashing out in the wild card stage once again.

The Green Bay Packers came to AT&T Stadium and made a mockery of the Cowboys‘ impressive home win run of 16 games. McCarthy’s former team scored 48 points, the most by any NFL team in the 2023 season, in a game they were favorites to lose.

It meant Dallas’ search for a Super Bowl was postponed for another year. But their veteran owner didn’t put the blame solely on the head coach. To the 81-year-old’s eyes, everyone, including himself, had a part in the Packers’ defeat.

Our loss on Sunday is shared by everyone here, not just Coach McCarthy, players [Dak Prescott]. Our coaches [Dan Quinn] and front office. Myself. There is accountability for our results. I am accountable for our results.

Continuing further, Jones added

But that doesn’t mean fans who wanted McCarthy fired would positively welcome the news. More so after the other Texan franchise made it past the first round of playoff qualifiers.
