The 52-year-old was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Minnesota Twins after being drafted in 1988.
He made his official debut in 1992 with the team and stayed for five years until he was traded to the Boston Red Sox.
After the Red Sox, Mahomes Sr played with the New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates until 2003 and officially retired in 2009.In 2021, he also played for the Chiefs who were trying to win their second consecutive Super Bowl against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Chiefs, however, lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 9–31.
In February 2024, Mahomes will once again lead the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, going against the San Francisco 49ers – a 2020 rematch.
This will be Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ third Super Bowl in four years.
