The Cleveland Cavaliers were in the presence of elite company for their Game 4 matchup against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Former Cavs legend and NBA champion LeBron James sat courtside at the game, and the Los Angeles Lakers star received an awesome welcome from the Cleveland crowd.

As James and his wife Savannah made their way courtside, fans in Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse erupted in cheer:

Cavs fans will never forget James’ historical nature. The turned Lakers forward started his career in Cleveland after the team selected him with a first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He spent his first seven seasons on the team before joining the Miami Heat. James eventually returned to the Cavs in 2014 after winning two championships with Miami.

Two years, later he won his third NBA title, which was Cleveland’s first in franchise history. James and the Cavs overcame a 3-1 deficit in the 2016 NBA Finals against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. It was one of the most impressive runs in Finals history. Thus, Cleveland could not help be give James and his wife a standing ovation when they came to watch the Celtics game.

Unfortunately, LeBron James’ attendance did not help the Cavs overcome their 2-1 deficit on Monday night.

Cavs fall to Celtics despite LeBron James’ presence

Cleveland entered Game 4 after a 106-93 loss to Boston. Donovan Mitchell had amassed 33 points on the night, but he needed more help for the Cavs to be successful. Darius Garland and Max Strus did not have their best days, but they answered the call on Monday night.

Garland led Cleveland in scoring with 30 points. Meanwhile, Struss stepped with 15 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Nevertheless, Cleveland still fell 109-102. The Cavs did not have Mitchell’s services due to a calf injury. Hopefully, the star guard undergoes a speedy recovery.

Cleveland fell 3-1 in the Celtics series with their loss on Monday night. It will be tough to rally against a stacked Boston team, but the Cavs still have a chance to try to regain some momentum. It will be interesting to see how Cleveland rebounds as they approach a crucial Game 5 in Boston.
