Jalen Brunson Gives Victor Wembanyama Great Marks After His Career-Best 40 Points in a Victory vs Knicks
Victor Wembanyama, the number one draft pick of the latest NBA draft has proved himself well in his debut season. He has received a lot of praise and made quite a lot of headlines in the past few months. And now, Knicks star Jalen Brunson has also offered his praises for the rookie.
Brunson himself is in great form this season. He has been a crucial pillar for the Knick’s positive record this season and has delivered many stunners on the court. Like many other stars, he also was amazed after facing the Spurs rookie and recognized his great potential.
Jalen Brunson awards Victor Wembanyama with high praise
New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has offered his praises for the number one draft pick this season. His statements were conveyed on X (formerly Twitter) by Josh Parades, NBA Editorial Director for Fansided. Brunson praised the rookie for his remarkable talent and also complimented his build and recent efforts in the league.
“He is gonna be one of the greatest players the game has seen. Just the way he is built and what he has been able to do so far. Got a lot of respect for him, and it is tough to get a shot up and in over him,” said Brunson. The Knicks star also complimented Wembys defensive capabilities and accepted that it is hard to shoot over the 7-footer.
Ever since Victor Wembanyama set foot in the NBA, he has been loaded with a lot of expectations, and instead of succumbing to them, the rookies faced them head-on. He has been crushing records here and there since his arrival and most recently equaled a record set by NBA Icon Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq had one of the best rookie seasons with the Orlando Magic in his debut year. In that season, a young Shaq posted up 46 points and collected 21 rebounds setting a record in 1993. Now almost 31 years later Victor Wembanyama has repeated the same feat in his match against the New York Knicks. Wemby scored 40 points and collected 20 rebounds in the Knicks game pushing himself in front of the line to win the Rookie of the Year award.
What do you think of Jalen Brunson’s praise for Victor Wembanyama? Who do you think will win the Rookie of the Year award? We are eager to know your thoughts, so drop down in the comments and let us know.
