Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton III had an impressive showing at Wednesday’s Pro Day that can only boost his stock ahead of next month’s 2024 NFL Draft.
But if you’re still a Joe Milton skeptic, perhaps you’ll enjoy Barstool Sports’ much more blunt take on his strong outing today:
The 2024 NFL quarterback draft class is headlined by USC’s Caleb Williams (the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner), LSU’s Jayden Daniels (the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner), North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
The second-tier of quarterback prospects includes Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., who led the Huskies to a national championship appearance in his final season of college football.
For what it’s worth, ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Joe Milton as the No. 10 ranked quarterback prospect on his updated big board. The six QBS listed above are ahead of Milton, along with South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler, Tulane’s Michael Pratt and Florida State’s Jordan Travis.
It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the Chicago Bears will take Williams first overall, with the Washington Commanders presumably choosing one of Daniels, McCarthy or Maye. At No. 3, the New England Patriots will likely take one of those remaining two guys.
Joe Milton Had A Phenomenal Final NCAA Season
Joe Milton made the most of increased playing time in his final year with the Volunteers, throwing for 2,813 yards and 20 touchdowns against only five interceptions to go along with 299 rushing yards and seven rushing scores.
Milton spent his first three seasons with Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines before transferring to the Volunteers in 2021. The 24-year-old left the college ranks with 5,353 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 661 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores.
